Disneyland Inspired Mickey Pretzel Recipe

Disneyland Inspired Mickey Pretzel Recipe

Everything tastes better in Mickey form, right? Say hello to the yummiest, easiest Mickey pretzel recipe out there. These taste so delicious and they’ll make you feel like you’re at Disneyland sitting on Mainstreet, USA.

While our pretzels don’t look quite as fancy as Disneyland’s, they taste JUST as delicious!

Ingredients To Make Mickey Shaped Pretzels

  • 1 ½ c lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 c flour
  • ⅓ c baking soda (for boiling)
  • 6 c water (for boiling)
  • 1 egg
  • Coarse salt

Preheat your oven to 425°. I used my Kitchen Aide for this recipe but you don’t even need to use a mixer if you don’t want to. To begin, mix the sugar into the lukewarm water. Sprinkle the yeast into the water. Let your yeast bloom for about 5 minutes.

Once your yeast has bloomed, mix in the salt. Slowly mix in the flour 1 cup at a time. Mix in the rest of your flour until your dough is no longer sticky. Press your finger into the dough, if it bounces back then you have enough flour and it’s ready to knead.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about a 1 minute. Roll your dough into a ball and cut the dough into desired portion sizes. This recipe makes 8 large pretzels or more mini pretzels. You can create whatever size you’d prefer.

To create the mickey shape roll your chunk of dough into a long rope. Start at the bottom of his face and loop each ear. Then connect the other end of the dough back at the bottom. See the picture for a reference.

Mix together 6 cups of water and ⅓ c baking soda. Bring this mixture to a boil. Use a slotted spatula to place a pretzel in the boiling water. Boil each pretzel for about 25 seconds flipping it half way through. Do not over boil, it gives the pretzels a funny taste. Scoop the pretzel out of the water and let the excess water drain off. Place the boiled pretzel on a greased cookie sheet.

Beat an egg in a bowl and brush the egg on top of your boiled pretzels. I do a VERY thin layer so the pretzel doesn’t taste eggy. Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt.

Bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Without taking the pretzels out of the oven, broil them for another 2 minutes. Keep a close eye on them while broiling so they don’t burn.

Now sit back, put on some Disney music, and enjoy your warm Mickey Pretzel!
